The Asociación Marplatense de Bodyboard (AMB) presented the 2026-2027 Circuito Argentino de Bodyboard, which will run from November to May. The calendar has at least three stops in Mar del Plata, with the possibility of adding events in other towns. The first event will take place between November 7 and 29.
In November 2025 the association wrapped up its first circuit, with three events: Costa del Sol in the north, La Popular in the center, and Marbella in the south. For this new edition, the calendar changes and the circuit adds divisions, a membership system, a judging course, and plans for its first bodyboard school. We talked with Ezequiel Gazpio, vice president of the AMB, whom we had already interviewed for the launch of the 2025 circuit.

Why is the circuit moving to a November-to-May schedule?
Last year we ran the 2025 circuit throughout the whole year. Now we're changing it: it's going to be 2026-2027, the way it was always done, during the season with the best weather, from November to May. That way we avoid winter, which sometimes has low turnout, especially in the younger divisions.
How would you sum up last year's circuit?
It turned out much better than we expected. We had a lot of competitors with us across all three events, and also the people who come with them: the family, the friend, the relative who shows up and spends the whole day at the beach. We tried to make them feel part of the event at every stop too, and people appreciated it.
We now have a track record and we did things right, so we're hoping turnout will be a bit better this year.
Why did you decide to call it the Argentine Circuit?
Because we've already gone beyond Mar del Plata. People come to compete from nearby towns and from some farther away too. It's a national circuit now, and that's why we decided to call it the Circuito Argentino, so anyone who's up for it can sign up.
Divisions
For juniors, the circuit will have Espumeros (groms), U12, U15, and U18. For adults, there will be an open Women's division, Drop Knee, Amateur, and Senior, which replaces the previous circuit's Open. The association is also considering organizing an event for the pro division.
Membership system
The AMB has started registering athletes through its membership system. The registry lets it keep a record of athletes from Mar del Plata and the surrounding area, which will be taken into account when choosing representatives for international competitions. Membership fees also give the association a base to add infrastructure at each event.
What are your expectations for this season?
Expectations are high because we keep growing. We want the sport to grow and our membership system to grow, because it really helps us always have better structure and better things to offer competitors and our members.

The association is also training judges. What's the goal?
We want to improve the judging system: we want our judges to always stay active and not just wait around for events, and we want the ones we train to work both for our contests and for other events that need judges. The idea is for Mar del Plata to have its own bodyboard judges, trained with everything up to date at an international level.
The training will run throughout all the months of the circuit, and we'll place candidates into different levels of experience and learning.
Bodyboard school
The AMB is also working on plans for its first bodyboard school. In the 2025 circuit wrap-up story, the association had already said it was looking for a location, infrastructure, and staff to get it up and running.
